Our film LEXIE CANNES racked up numerous awards during the American International Film Festival competition. Among the awards were Best Narrative Feature Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Courtney O'Donnell, Best Supporting Actor/Actress for Austin Richey and Jody Barrong. Awards for Original Music Score, Edting and Cinematography were also given.

While the AIFF is a relatively new film festival, it offers true indie filmmakers an opportunity to standout among the glut of Hollywood-based "indie" films finding their way into many mainstream film festivals these days. Hopefully AIFF and competition festivals like it continue to thrive, providing alternative means of exposure for true indie filmmakers.

The programmers plan an exhibition of some of the year's best films and I've been told that LEXIE CANNES is on that list. I'll follow up with when and where as it becomes available.

Our feature film LEXIE CANNES has been selected for the SERILE FILMULUI GAY INT'L FILM FESTIVAL in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The festival will run from October 11th thru 17th, 2010.

There has been A LOT of interest in LEXIE CANNES from Europe and Eastern Europe from festivals, deaf and trans advocates as well as film fans. This festival will be the first one officially show the film in Europe.

[From the festival's website:] In a country where gay and Roma people are avoided by most (as shown by the E.U. Fundamental Rights Agency), the festival aims to send an accurate and efficient message about cultural diversity and accepting individual values. Every year, free entrance is granted to all these events: the purpose of the festival is not to obtain money, but to promote democracy, tolerance and diversity.

If you are able to attend, I urge you to do so, not only to support our film, but also the causes -- trans people, deaf people and their friends and allies! :)
