Hi, welcome to the Lexie Cannes production diary. From time-to-time we'll update this page with pictures and comments
on the progress we've been making. Thanks for stopping by.
FINAL PRODUCTION UPDATE: January 20, 2009
Yup, picture lock. Done. Completed! The many hours in editing suite has produced a final cut! I'm very pleased! I see its
been almost 5 years since I wrote my first production update. I'd like to thank Jessica Smith, Manot Haythorn and a few others
who partipicated with pick up shots filmed late last summer to help complete the project!
UPDATE: Fall, 2007. Yes, its been seemingly quiet. But hidden away out of sight in the basement of a mountain top retreat,
"Lexie Cannes" has come alive in the form of a 70-minute edited version. While not quite at "picture lock", we've made significant
progress in the Edit Suite and plans have been made to film the last few pieces. And yes, if your mug shot is still on the
cast page, you didn't get cut! :)
UPDATE: Summer, 2006. Fresh off a stage production of Shakespear's "Much Ado
About Nothing," we recruited cast members Marissa Levien, Janell Turley and Liz O'Lenic, to fill out the remaining few roles
in our film. Entire families showed up during filming making for additional fun for everyone. Thanks everybody!
UPDATE:
Febuary, 2006. This month's filming sessions included acting performances from Don Bellairs, Patty O'Linger, Jeffery Kaufman
and TJ Ingles. Thanks guys! Also this month this website is getting a big bump in hits as more and more people discover our
project! Stay tuned!
UPDATE: January, 2006. A full shooting schedule this month -- mostly outdoors, shooting "Summer"
in the middle of Winter. A round of applause to actresses Jody Barrong, Courtney, Jeannie Songer, Shade and chief crew Austin
for braving the bitter cold and rain! Several other new actors will get the independent filmmaking experience in a few weeks!
UPDATE: October, 2005. Quietly moving forward. A lot of time spent in the editing suite. The shooting schedule
during this period included numerous FX and speciality shots that came out quite well. I'd like to thank Heather Elise and
Jessie Errey for their help. Thanks!
UPDATE: July, 2005. Wow, what a month! Still in the middle of a heavy schedule
and not much time to post anything except a picture and to give thanks to the cast/crew who helped out this month! Lets have
a hand for Courtney, Jeska, and Dawn as well as Austin Richey, Jeannie Songer, Shannon Jones and of course, the nice folks
at Haven Coffee Shop on Hawthorne.
UPDATE: June 2005. Filming started up again in earnest. Scenes with Valeska
and Carmen DeAngelo went by pretty quick! Thanks Carmen! Currently we're in the midst of shooting scenes with Courtney and
Jeska Duckworth -- see photos here and elsewhere. Later this summer we'll be joined by Dawn Stoyanoff. Movie set looks good!
Thanks to everybody who has helped out this far. I'll do my best to keep the website updated!
UPDATE: April 2005.
Three new actresses were chosen for some of the uncast parts. They are Dawn Stoyanoff, Jeska Duckworth and Carmen DeAngelo.
I'm glad to have these enthusiasic people on board. Thank you! The filming of the scenes for these parts has already started
and will continue for a couple of months.
UPDATE: January, 2005. A lot of behind the scenes pre-production stuff
(research and reading) going on. The Mac G4 has shown that its up to the task of film editing and later, post production work.
Approximately 30 hours of footage has been whittled down to a managable amount, clearing the way for the next batch of footage
on the way.
UPDATE: November, 2004. Construction of the set began in earnest this month. Lot of time spent on
permanent wiring of the shop building to provide overhead and separate zone power outlets -- no cords on the floor! Camera/light
experiments continued all month to find the right combination of fixures & lamps needed.
UPDATE: October 5,
2004. Late September saw the world premire of the one-and-a-half minute Lexie Cannes preview/trailer during a film festival
at the Kiggins Theatre in Vancouver, Washington. Thanks Gary Hubbard! Also in September several difficult exterior/vehicle
scenes were completed with the help of actor Steve Molyneux who did his own stunts! Thanks Steve!
UPDATE: Sept
4, 2004. Filming continued throughout the Summer and most of the Fall on location in Portland. Becky Lopez joined the cast
in August and a few other will follow her later this month and into October. My thanks to the Portlanders that agreed to be
"extras" on some location shots.
UPDATE: JULY 21, 2004. Most of the major on-location scenes in the Portland,
OR area involving actresses Courtney O'Donnell and Valeska Franscisco were wrapped up this month. In August on-location shooting
begins for new cast members. Music from the movie's soundtrack was released in early July and is available for purchase. Click
the "music soundtrack" button on your left for details.
UPDATE MAY 16, 2004. On location filming continues
this month in the Portland downtown area. Construction of one of the movie sets remains underway. Work on the music soundtrack
is nearly wrapped up.
UPDATE APRIL 18, 2004. Construction of one of the major sets began this week. On-location
filming has continued on and off, weather permitting. (New photos in gallery) Other area locations for Summer/Fall shooting
has been secured. Several vacant acting roles have been filled as well as a few more crew members. Music for the film has
been selected (see acknowledgement section), more information about the movie soundtrack will be posted here shortly.
